The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) is pleased to announce the election of Western Australian businessman, Peter Hood as incoming President for 2014.
Mr Hood, elected by members at ACCI's annual meeting in Canberra, replaces Richard Holyman, whose two single-year terms concluded this month.
Mr Terry Wetherall, President of the NSW Business Chamber, was elected ACCI's Deputy President.
New board members Tracey Horton (WA), Mark Birrell (Vic), Tony Dormer (NSW) and Stephen Tait (Qld) join re-elected members Peter Kennedy, John Atkins, Mark Stone, Stephen Cartwright and Nigel McBride.
As Immediate Past President, Mr Holyman remains a director. He will also assume the chairmanship of the International Chamber of Commerce Australia, which ACCI administers from its national headquarters.
Addressing ACCI members, Mr Hood said it was "an honour and privilege" to preside over ACCI's work, and paid tribute to Richard Holyman's "active and progressive leadership as both a small businessman and successful reformer".
Mr Holyman also conferred a sixth ACCI Service Award for distinguished voluntary service on Victorian businessman, investor and entrepreneur, Peter O'Brien.
All ACCI office bearers and members applauded the commitment and achievements of Chief Executive Peter Anderson (who stands down on 10th January), the tireless work of the secretariat, and outgoing directors David Michaelis, Peter McMullin, James Pearson and Brett Moller.
